The latest market report from industry forecaster, Palmer Market Research (PMR), has identified bi-fold doors as the ‘stars’ of the glazing market, as one of only two products to show growth last year, and predicted to double in size in the period to 2017.
PMR director, Robert Palmer, said: “The introduction of bi-fold doors has changed the market both for patio doors and conservatories. The access to more light, one of the reasons why both patio doors and conservatories have been purchased in the past, has now become more readily available.”
Yorkshire based Lockwood Windows can also attest to the growing popularity of bi-fold doors, having received an increase in orders over recent months.
Managing director Richard Pogson commented: “People are becoming more design conscious, and want to enhance the aesthetic of their home, whilst at the same time increasing light and a feeling of bringing the outside inside. Installing a bi-fold door ticks all the boxes.”
Leading property website Rightmove has also stated that bi-folding doors can help to increase the desirability and value of a house. “Natural light is one of the most important things to add to a home – sun tubes, skylights, glass bi-fold doors – anything that pours light into your home will help you sell it. Open plan living and design that integrates your garden with indoor living space is becoming more and more important to house hunters.”
Lockwood Windows offer both uPVC and aluminium bi-fold doors and have aset on display in their showroom. For more information on bi-fold doors click here.
